Uche Ignites Dominant Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.
Despite entering their maiden continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
Another three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Moment
This match offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.
A Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season proved no match even for a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.
Control Established from the Outset
In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.
Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.
Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had hit the post.
Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
